The world number one again proved he is head and shoulders above anyone on the big days with his two-shot success in the Open Championship at Hoylake. His attention now turns to Medinah, the venue of the first of his two PGA titles back in 1999 when he held off a cocky young Spaniard called Sergio Garcia over the closing 18 holes. No prizes for guessing that Woods is the man to beat and it is going to take an almighty performance to stop him claiming major number 12 if near his peak.
