Monty has an excellent recent record in the majors having finished runner-up in two of the last five staged. So the wait goes on for the Scot in terms of claiming one of the four main prizes of the season but he should be optimistic about his chance this week. His long game remains on a par with the best and he proved in the US Open he can still make the big putts under pressure. He tied for sixth at Medinah in 1999 which should also be a boost to his confidence.
