The Spaniard sprung to prominence in the event at this venue back in 1999 when his teenage exuberence captured the imagination of the sport as he made Tiger Woods pull out all the stops over the closing holes. Still without a major title to his name, he was in position once again at Hoylake last month only to stumble out of contention early on the final day before staging a late rally to claim a tie for fifth. There is no doubt he can deliver another strong performance so perhaps a return to Medinah could finally make the difference between winning and losing.
