The American enjoyed a welcome return to form when chasing home Tiger Woods at Hoylake in the Open championship. He looked like the only man likely to challenge Woods on the final day and it was a performance made all the more remarkable by the fact he had recently lost his mother. DiMarco has knocked on the door a number of times now in majors and it would not be a huge surprise if he broke through at Medinah - few could argue that he would not deserve it.
