Tiger Woods called his 12th major - and second at the Medinah Country Club in Chicago - "sweet, really sweet."
Woods romped to a five-stroke victory over fellow American Shaun Micheel at the US PGA championship and equalled the championship record he shared with Bob May with an 18 under par total.
Britain's Luke Donald, joint leader with the world number one with a round to play, did not have a birdie all day and with a 74 slipped to joint third with Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott.
Woods, who also won the Open last month and the one tournament he played in between, added after his closing 68: "I probably didn't feel as comfortable as I looked. I made some bombs on the greens, putts you probably shouldn't make.
"I just had one of those days and honestly was just trying to get the ball on the green. Starting the day it could have gone any which way and winning on this course against this field I feel very fortunate."
Donald, meanwhile, told Sky Sports 2: "Too many putts were just missing the hole.
"It was one of those days but I will learn from it and be a stronger player after this.
"Tiger played very solidly today, he made a fast start which made a big difference and he didn't do too much wrong.
"In the end he deserved to win."
